A common problem with programs based on the principles of applied behavior analysis is that they are highly successful in a limited context, but often fail to produce the desired results with novel people, activities, or settings. In addition, results of interventions often fail to maintain over time. If programs are only successful in a limited context and don't maintain, they are likely to be of limited value. Applied Behavior Analysis has many years of research demonstrating effective procedures to produce generalization and maintenance of skill over time. This presentation will describe the basic tactics necessary to successfully produce these outcomes, for a wide variety of learners with autism and other developmental disorders.
